International Center for the Study of Ecosystems of the Aral Sea Region

The purpose of creating the center is to contribute to ensuring a sustainable environmental situation, revealing the processes of natural restoration of near-water and terrestrial ecosystems.

The main directions of the center: environmental education of society, conservation of biological diversity, improvement of the health of the population of the Aral Sea region, it is also planned to prepare educational programs and qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel in geographical and environmental areas.

As part of the research work, ways to restore damaged ecosystems of the small island and the entire Kazakh Aral Sea region will be studied, including the natural restoration of biogeocenoses. In addition, the structure, dynamics and ecology of plant and animal communities, as well as their classification, will be studied.

It is also planned to carry out work to promote botanical, zoological and environmental knowledge, and recommendations will be developed for the conservation of unique natural objects.

In the future, the Center will expand cooperation with the World Health Organization and scientists in the field of ecology from near and far abroad.
